NORFOLK, Va.,Sept 1, 2024 – Opening weekend of the 2024 women’s volleyball season wrapped with action from Howard and Morgan state on Sunday afternoon. Howard advanced to 2-1 after defeating cross-town rival Georgetown in three sets, while Morgan State moved to 0-3 following a loss to Saint Francis.

WASHINGTON, DC – Howard volleyball ended the weekend with a 3-0 sweep over Georgetown on Sunday afternoon. The Bison finished the DMV Invitational with a 2-1 record.
Howard def. Georgetown 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-17)
Rya McKinnon spearheaded the charge posting her second double-double of the weekend, 19 kills and 10 digs while Cimone Woodard led the Bison with a .462 k%. Senior Maya Gerlach dominated with a game-high six blocks while Simpson protected the floor registering 14 digs.

MORGAN STATE
Morgan State ended day three of the Morgan/Towson Invitational, taking a set from Saint Francis in a 3-1 loss.
Saint Francis def. Morgan (25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 26-18).
Morgan State's offense was led by standout newcomer Addison Metts, who delivered a solid performance with seven kills. Metts also posted a hitting percentage of .250 and contributed five digs in the crucial fourth set.
Madison Grace added five kills and three blocks. Jada Williams finished with a match-high seven blocks, including three solo blocks.
