SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The South Carolina State volleyball team posted an impressive 3-0 sweep over Mississippi Valley State Friday marking their first win of the season. The Bulldogs fell short in the second contest to Bethune-Cookman 3-1 opening round of the Tiger Invitational held on the campus of Tennessee State inside Kean Hall Gymnasium.
South Carolina State def. Mississippi Valley State 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-19).
Hailey Harris let the way with 12 kills, followed by Xaria Pickett with 11. Kaia Barnett was the leader in assist with a game-high 28, while Miya Benson added 16 digs in the win.
Bethune Cookman def. South Carolina State 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 17-25, 21-25).
The second game was a hard-fought battle with South Carolina State dropping a tough battle to Bethune-Cookman 1-3. Xaria Pickett led the way with a game-high 19 kills, while Hailey Harris added 10 and Mckinley Roach recorded seven.

COPPIN STATE
BALTIMORE, Md.- The Coppin State women's volleyball team saw action in two matches on the day at the Towson Invitational. The Eagles took a set from Seton Hall in match one in a 3-1 loss to Pirates, then dropped to the hosts Towson Tigers in three sets Friday morning on the road.
Seton Hall def. Coppin State 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 21-25, 23-25).
TaKenya Stafford posted her sixth double-double of the season, tallying 16 kills on .217 hitting to go with 17 digs. Ayanna Pharoah was also in double figures with ten kills while hitting .304, followed by Sophia Bertotti Metoyer with eight.
Kahea Carvalho matched a career-high with 31 assists to go with seven digs, splitting time with Azul Pilahg who had 13 assists and nine digs.
Towson def. Coppin State 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-22).
Pharoah led the Eagles with nine kills and three blocks while hitting .211. Stafford finished with six more kills while adding ten digs and two blocks as Parks and Bertotti Metoyer had four kills and three blocks apiece.
Carvalho finished with 20 assists while Zuquelo and Figuero tallied seven and six digs, respectively.

DELAWARE STATE
STORRS, Conn.- Delaware State matched up against UConn in a 3-0 loss on Friday afternoon.
UConn def. Delaware State 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-16.)
The Hornets matched event with the Huskies with 27 assists as a team, and outnumbered UConn in digs (26-23). Aaliyah Mitchell led all players with 15 kills.

NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL
BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The North Carolina Central volleyball team was halted by the Lady Catamounts' offense Friday falling to Western Carolina in three sets (15-25, 16-25, 18-25).
Western Carolina def. North Carolina Central 3-0 (15-25, 16-25, 18-25).
Kamren Harper and Karolina Zubkova both finished with five kills on the day to lead the Eagles offense and Loren Johnson chipped in with 14 digs to lead them defensively.

MORGAN STATE
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Morgan State fought back from an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth and decisive set, but fell short its comeback bid to Le Moyne, falling 3-2 in their opening match of the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square Penn Invitational on Friday afternoon. The Bears are now 1-8 on the season.
Le Moyne def. Morgan State (25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 15-25, 15-7).
Morgan State was led by Daniela Ferreira who finished with 11 kills to go with seven digs. Mya Karrick totaled 18 assists and a team-high eight digs and Trinity Carruthers added 12 assists.

NORFOLK STATE
BLACKSBURG, Va.- The Norfolk State Women's volleyball played a pair of afternoon matches against Virginia Tech and UNC Greensboro. The Spartans won a set against Virginia Tech in a 3-1 loss before falling in straight sets to UNC Greensboro.

Alexa Harris matched a game high 15 kills.
