BALTIMORE, Md. (Aug. 29, 2024)--The Morgan State men's and women's cross country teams will open the 2024 season this Friday, August 30, when they travel to nearby Goucher College for the Baltimore Metro Meet. This will be the first time Morgan State has competed in the event since the 2014 season.

"This meet will give us an idea of our level of fitness upon returning," said Morgan State head coach Neville Hodge. "We are a lot better team than last season, so we are looking forward to the challenge that is ahead within the next few weeks."

On the men's side, Morgan State returns two letterwinners from a year ago in Perry Bennett and Davian Gray. The two would help the Bears to a fourth-place finish at last year's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship.

Bennett ran a time of 27:19.0 to place 10th and Gray followed with a time of 27:39.2 to come in 11th. Both would be named to the All-MEAC team.

The Lady Bears, who placed fifth at last season's MEAC championship, return three runners from a year ago, including senior Abigail Fisher.

Fisher would finish 12th at the MEAC championship, completing the 6k race in a time of 20:03.0 to earn All-MEAC honors with her performance. Jessica Lamborn also earned a top 20 finish, as she ran a time of 20:41.0 to place 19th.
