BALTIMORE – Coppin State's volleyball team, the defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Champions, announced its 2024 schedule on Monday afternoon, highlighted by early season tournament trips at St. John's, Robert Morris/Duquesne, Towson and Wyoming.
The Eagles, led by three-time MEAC Coach of the Year
Tim Walsh, open the campaign in New York on August 30-31 for the Red Storm Invitational where they'll take on Northeastern and Central Connecticut on Friday before battling St. John's on Saturday afternoon.
Following a midweek trip to American University on September 4, Coppin heads back to Pittsburgh where they competed at the 2023 NCAA Tournament. In the Steel City, the Eagles face Robert Morris and Duquesne on Friday, both on their home courts, before going up against Niagara at DU on Saturday.
CSU welcomes Penn for its home opener at 11:00 am on September 10 for Education Day.
Three days later, Coppin will make the short trek for the Towson Invitational on September 13-14 to play Seton Hall, the host Tigers and Loyola Maryland. Prior to the Battle of Baltimore with the Greyhounds, Coppin will also play Lehigh on the campus of UMBC.
The Eagles head West to close out the early portion of their schedule for Wyoming's UNIWYO Invitational on September 19-21. The competitive field features the host Cowboys on Thursday night, followed by Utah on Friday night and Albany on Saturday afternoon.
MEAC play opens on September 27 when Coppin hosts Delaware State and the Eagles will play each conference member in a home-and-home series. The conference tournament will once again be held at Delaware State on November 22-24.
Coppin's roster will have a new look in 2024 with the Eagles returning just two starters in outside hitter
TaKenya Stafford, the 2023 MEAC Tournament MVP, and sophomore
Coco Figueroa, an All-Rookie Team selection at defensive specialist.
