DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball program under the direction of ninth-year head coach Jody Brown has released its 2024 season schedule, which will include nine home dates of competition.

The upcoming fall season schedule features a home exhibition against Duke University, a home-and-away weekend against rival North Carolina A&T State University, three in-state weekend tournaments and a full slate of 14 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference clashes.

The Eagles will make their season debut at home with a marquee exhibition against Duke on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The Blue Devils are returning to McDougald-McLendon Arena for a second straight year and the preseason competition between the two Division I Bull City programs will be a centerpiece for fundraising, awareness and opportunity to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties.

NCCU will begin regular season play on Labor Day weekend with two clashes against the Aggies. The Eagles will first travel to Greensboro to play at N.C. A&T on Friday, Aug. 30. The two rivals will then play a second match in Durham one day later.

The Eagles will then spend the first three weekends of September at a trio of regional events. NCCU will play three matches at each of those tournaments to account for their last nine non-conference matches of the season.

NC Central will face Murray State University, UNC Greensboro and host Elon University at the Elon Phoenix Classic (Sept. 6-7); Western Carolina University, American University and host Campbell University at the Campbell Invitational (Sept. 13-14); and Charlotte, East Tennessee State University and host Queens University of Charlotte at the Queen City Invitational (Sept. 20-21).

NCCU will once again play two matches (home-and-away) against the other seven MEAC institutions for a total of 14 conference clashes. All home league showdowns will be contested on either Friday evenings or Sunday afternoons with home dates against Norfolk State University (Sept. 27), Howard University (Sept. 29), South Carolina State University (Oct. 18), Morgan State University (Nov. 1), Coppin State University (Nov. 3), Delaware State University (Nov. 8) and University of Maryland Eastern Shore (Nov. 10).

The 2023 MEAC Volleyball Championship will be hosted by Delaware State in Dover on Friday-Sunday, Nov. 22-24.
