BALTIMORE, Md. (July 26, 2024) -- Malik Miller, a former Morgan State standout, has made a notable stride in his professional basketball journey by signing with the Svendborg Rabbits. This prestigious club holds a prominent position in the Danish Basketligaen (DBL), Denmark's top-tier basketball league. Miller's signing with the Rabbits marks a significant milestone in his career, as he joins a team with a rich history and a reputation for fostering talent.
The Svendborg Rabbits were founded in 1958 and have consistently been a force in the DBL, winning their first championship title in 1993. Miller's arrival with the Rabbits adds to the team's already strong roster, which includes experienced veterans and promising young prospects.
Throughout his illustrious collegiate career at Morgan, Miller showcased his unwavering hardwork, suffocating defense and relentless play. Moreover, Miller's offensive prowess shone brightest in critical moments, as he repeatedly drained clutch baskets for the Bears. Now, as he embarks on the next chapter of his basketball journey, Miller carries with him the legacy of a fan favorite, eager to showcase his talents on an even grander stage.
Prior to sustaining a season-ending ACL injury at Howard on January 21, 2023, Miller was on pace for postseason accolades. He averaged an impressive 17.5 points per game, along with 9.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.1 steals in 19 games played.
Miller's impressive play throughout his Morgan career earned him a place among the school's all-time leaders in several categories. He ranks third in steals with 177, sixth in rebounding with 792, tied for seventh in games played with 118, and 15th in scoring with 1,225 points.
Despite the devastating blow to Miller's last season in a Blue & Orange jersey, the Washington, D.C. product never gave up on his pursuit of playing professionally. Miller channeled his adversity into motivation. He worked tirelessly in rehab, determined to return to the court stronger than ever before.
"Even at your lowest never give up," said Miller. "Adversity is going either make or break you, but overcoming it will define you!"
Malik's return to the court was a testament to his hard work and resilience. He had not only overcome a major injury but had also emerged as a more confident and mature player. His story is an inspiration to others, demonstrating that with perseverance and a positive mindset, anything is possible.
