PITTSBURGH, Pa., April 5, 2024 --- The Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore bounced back in the afternoon match picking up a 2-0 win against the Mercyhurst Lakers.
UMES won the traditional round by 16 points, 903-887. Brooke Roberts lead the Hawks in the anchor spot with a game-high score of 207.
Moving into the total pinfall format, Maryland Eastern Shore got out to a 40-pin lead with a 201-161 win in game one. Mercyhurst erased the UMES lead and took control of the lead winning game two 234-153 (81-pins) giving the Lakers a 41-pin advantage.
UMES regained control of the momentum in game three winning by 46-pins (201-155) and reclaimed a narrow five-pin lead over MU. In the fourth game, the Hawks won 235-225 adding ten more pins to their total taking a 15-pin lead over the Lakers.
Maryland Eastern Shore closed the match out strong winning game five 235-173 (62 pins) to pull ahead and secure their place in tomorrow’s elimination game against the loser of Duquesne/Jacksonville State matchup.
UMES takes the lanes at 9 AM on Saturday, April 6. The winner of the elimination bracket will face the winner out of the champions bracket for the regional crown.
