North Carolina A&T advances to MEAC Bowling Championship match to face Maryland Eastern Shore in a rematch

RALEIGH, N.C., March 24, 2024 – Championship Day began with the last elimination match of the consolation bracket to determine who would face No. 3 Maryland Eastern Shore in the championship match at 2 PM. The Aggies of North Carolina A&T, the top seed in the tournament, defeated the Bison of Howard, the No. 8 seed, in the semifinal match and a rematch of the first game of the tournament. 

The Mega Match action began with the teams going head-to-head in the traditional format. North Carolina A&T took the win in traditional format with a total score of 987 while Howard scored 946. Melanie Katen led N.C. A&T with 226 pins while Cameren Sullivan led all bowlers in the traditional format with 235 pins. 

The teams then moved into baker total pinfall format, the Aggies won four games, 189-153, 206-177, 205-169 and 181-170, taking a 112-pin lead (781-669) into the fifth game. The Bison won the fifth game, 172-167, however the lead was too great for Howard to over come as they fell 2-0 to North Carolina A&T. 

The championship match begins at 2 PM at the Buffaloe Lanes North in Raleigh, N.C. Fans can also watch the event live on ESPN+.
