Maryland Eastern Shore 71, North Carolina Central 64 

DURHAM, N.C. - The Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore improved their record to .500 overall sitting at 12-12 with a 5-4 mark in MEAC action after picking up the 71-64 win over N.C. Central. 

UMES opened the first quarter with a 24-19 run to lead after ten minutes of action. The Hawks added another 21 points to their total to lead the Eagles 45-35 at the halftime break. NCCU came out of the break to outscore UMES 16-10 in the third pulling back within four points, 55-51. Maryland Eastern Shore closed out the game on a 16-13 run to hold off the Eagles and win by seven points, 71-64. 

Mya Thomas led the Hawks with 15 points while Zamara Haynes added 13 points and Ja’la Bannerman added 11 of her own. 

The Eagles were led by Tippy Robertson with 13 points going 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Morgan Callahan came in one rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Kimeira Burks was the last Eagle in double figures with 10 points in the game.

South Carolina State 69, Delaware State 61 

ORANGBURG, S.C. - The Lady Bulldogs claimed their first MEAC win of the season with a 69-61 victory over Delaware State at the S-H-M Memorial Center, home of the Bulldogs. 

S.C. State came out in the first taking an early seven-point lead, 18-11, after the first ten minutes of action. The second quarter was more closely contested as South Carolina State led by four points, 21-17, over Delaware State. After taking time to rest during the break, the Hornets led by three points in the third quarter, 16-13, putting the score at 52-44 heading into the fourth. Both teams scored 17 points in the final ten minutes as SCSU held on to claim the win.  

Cassandra Colon led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Morgan Beacham added 15 of her own points. Taniya McGowan was the last SCSU player to score double digits with 13 points while Heaven Harper brought down 11 boards. 

Deyonce Thompson led the Hornets with 20 points shooting 50 percent (5-of-10) from the field and 80 percent (8-of-10) from the charity stripe. Kiarra MceIrath added 11 points as the only other DSU player in double figures.

Howard 70, Morgan State 47 

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Big first and fourth quarter runs by the Bison elevated Howard to a 70-47 victory over Morgan State at the Burr. 

The Bison came out of the gate strong going on a 22-12 run and taking the early 10-point lead. The teams scored the same amount of points in the second quarter as each added 13 points to their totals putting the halftime score at 35-25. The Bears led the Bison in scoring in the third quarter, 16-13, pulling within seven points, 48-41, but Howard responded in a big way in the fourth quarter posting 22 points while holding Morgan State to just six points en route to victory. 

Tyana Walker led the Bison with 21 points while Iyanna Warren contributed 17 points and Kaiya Creek posted 14 of her own.  

Morgan State was led by Joelle Johnson with 20 points going 9-of-14 from the field. Tamaria Rumph was the next highest scorer with eight points.

Norfolk State 64, Coppin State 51 

BALTIMORE, MD. - The Spartans recorded their second consecutive 20-win season after defeating the Eagles of Coppin State 64-51 on homecoming Saturday in Baltimore, Md. 

The first half of action was closely contested between the two teams as NSU held a slim five-point lead at the half time break, 30-25. Norfolk State came out of the break going on a 20-11 run pulling ahead 50-36 heading into the final ten minutes. The Eagles outscored the Spartans by one point in the fourth, 15-14, but it was NSU that came out on top with the 64-51 victory.  

Kierra Wheeler led Norfolk State with 22 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double while shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. A trio of Spartans tallied 10 points each in Diamond Johnson, Da’Brya Clark and Anjanae Richardson.  

Laila Lawrence led the Eagles with 13 points and a game-high 19 rebounds. Tyler Gray added 12 points while Angel Jones contributed 10.
