NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 9, 2024 – Coppin State’s guard Angel Jones was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Delaware State’s Ericka Huggins was named Rookie of the Week, while Coppin State's forward Laila Lawrence earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Jones (G, Gr., Woodbridge, Va.) averaged 19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals during a 2-1 week for the Eagles. In a narrow 63-61 win over NJIT, Jones led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. She followed with another standout performance in the 74-68 overtime victory against Arizona State, contributing 23 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Huggins (F, Fr., Wilmington, Del.) posted a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds in a close loss to St. Francis. Huggins finished the week averaging 7.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks for the Hornets.
Lawrence (F, Sr., Lewisville, Texas) averaged 16.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.6 steals, and 2.0 blocks during a 2-1 week for the Eagles. She recorded 20 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals in the 63-61 win over NJIT. In the overtime victory against Arizona State, Lawrence finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, four steals and five assists. She finished off with her second double-double of the week, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to No. 15 UNC.

- Diamond Johnson (NSU) finished with 23 points, six assists, six steals, and eight rebounds in the win over St. Louis.
- Kierra Wheeler (NSU) contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds in the win over St. Louis.
