Bison Trio Selected for the 2025 HBCU Legacy Bowl

WASHINGTON (December 5, 2024) – In November, the Howard University football team saw three Bison selected to the 2025 HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans.
 
Graduates defensive back Kenny Gallop Jr. (Portsmouth, Va.) and running back Jarett Hunter (Mineral, Va.) and fifth-year senior defensive back Carson Hinton (Detroit) were among the Bison selected.
 
Gallop earned a spot on the All-MEAC First Team after wrapped up his final season with 77 total tackles (52 solos), seven tackles for loss, four pass breakups, three sacks, three QB hurries, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. In 44 games, he finished his illustrious career with 325 total tackles (210 solos), 20 tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups, 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two INTs.
 
Hunter was named to the All-MEAC Second Team, producing 813 yards of total offense (663 rushing & 150 receiving) with six total TDs (five rushing & one receiving) during the 2024 campaign. In 48 games, the Virginia native racked up 2,723 yards of total offense (2,699 rushing & 1,024 receiving) with 29 total touchdowns (22 rushing & seven receiving).
 
Hinton concluded his last year in a Bison uniform, registering 34 total tackles (28 solos), five pass breakups and a pair of QB hurries. In 46 contests, he notched 135 total tackles (96 solos), 16 pass breakups, 15.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two blocked kicks and two INTs.
 
The 2025 HBCU Legacy Bowl takes place Saturday, February 22, 2025, in New Orleans and broadcasted live on NFL Network.
