MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 30, 2024 – Norfolk State graduate guard Brian Moore Jr. was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Howard’s guard Blake Harper was named Rookie of the Week, while Coppin State senior guard Julius Ellerbe III earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.

Moore Jr. (G, 6-2, 185, Gr., Harlem, N.Y.) registered 33 points, five rebounds and six assists in the Spartans victory against High Point. Moore Jr. shot 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from the field and was perfect (7-of-7) from the free throw line.

Harper (G, 6-5, Fr., Washington, D.C.) tallied a career-high 34 points to lead the Bison against Hampton. He added four rebounds, one assist and one steal while shooting 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from the field and 80.0 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line.

Ellerbe III (G, 6-7, 205, RSr., Washington, D.C.) collected 12 points with three rebounds, three assists, one block and six steals against Georgetown.

  • Toby Nnadozie (CSU) led the Eagles with 22 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in Coppin State’s game against Georgetown.
  • Kaseem Watson (DSU) collected 23 points, six rebounds and three assists for Delaware State against Saint Joseph’s.
  • Jaylani Darden (NSU) registered six points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist in the Spartans win over High Point.
  • Po’Boigh King (NCCU) tallied 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal in an 0-1 week for the Eagles.
  • Jayden Johnson (SCSU) led the Bulldogs with 16 points in a 79-72 decision to Georgia. He added three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
