BALTIMORE (November 25, 2024) – Freshman guard Blake Harper (Washington) scored a career-high 20 points to lead four Bison in double figures, but a 12-0 run to end the game proved to be the difference as the Howard University men's basketball team fell, 95-77, to the University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC) in the UMBC Challenge at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
It was the second straight loss for the Bison.
A 6-foot-5 freshman guard out of Gonzaga College H.S., in D.C., Harper connected on 7-of-14 from the field to lead Howard (3-4).

DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off two consecutive road losses, the North Carolina Central University men's basketball team got back into the win column with a 91-36 victory over Carolina University on Monday evening at McDougald-McLendon Arena. Junior forward Perry Smith Jr. and senior guard Keishon Porter each finished with a game-high 15 points.
NCCU (2-6) returned home after playing the last five games on the road. The Bruins by way of Winston-Salem, N.C. were keeping pace with the Eagles in the first half only down 26-17 at the 8-minute media timeout.
NC Central revved up the defense which allowed multiple fastbreak opportunities including an and-one layup in transition from senior wing Timmy Adedire who cashed in the free throw for a 35-23 advantage with 4:55 remaining in the half.

Arkansas (SEC) def. Maryland Eastern Shore - 109-35
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks were grounded by 19th ranked Arkansas, 109-35, on Monday night.
Playing their second game in three days against a nationally ranked opponent, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks were unable to keep pace with the Razorbacks of Arkansas. Arkansas snatched all the momentum early on with a 28-0 run and never looked back.
Arkansas was up by 45 points at the half, 60-15, while making 66% of its shot attempts.
With turnovers plaguing UMES throughout the night, the Hawks surrendered a 17-0 run early in the second half as the Razorbacks went on to cruise to the lopsided victory.

Norfolk State def. UC Davis (Big West) - 76-55
DAVIS, Calif. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team closed its West Coast road trip on a high note, dominating the second half of a 76-55 victory over UC Davis.
Brian Moore Jr. led the Spartans (5-3) with 19 points, while Sin'Cere McMahon contributed 13 points off the bench on a 5-of-7 shooting night. Norfolk State shut down UC Davis (3-3) defensively as well, holding one of the nation's top scorers, TY Johnson, to 11 points while shooting 3-of-10 from the floor.
After Moore got the Spartans in transition, Christian Ings converted on the fast break to give Norfolk State its first lead of the game at 4-3. UC Davis knocked down a 3-pointer soon after, but Terrance Jones drained another from behind the arc to put the Spartans back in front.
