South Carolina State def. Indiana University - Indy (Horizon) - 72-62

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—
The South Carolina State men's basketball team captured back-to-back wins in the Bulldogs Bash Basketball Tournament over the weekend held at the Event Center in Huntsville, AL host by Alabama A&M University.

Coach Martin and the Bulldogs captured their first MTE Tournament in the school history with the victories. 

On Friday the Bulldogs (3-3, 0-0) knocked off host Alabama A&M 82-70 in opening play of the tournament.  Graduate guard Omar Croskey led the way with a game-high 20 points, shooting 6-of-9 from 3-point range.

Illinois (Big 10) def. Maryland Eastern Shore - 87-40

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks were stifled by the 25th ranked Illinois Illini on Saturday, 87-40.
 
The Hawks struggled from the field throughout the game. UMES missed the first nine shots before Evan Johnson knocked down a contested jumper and Jalen Ware converted from the baseline to keep UMES within two points, 6-4, by the 14:55 mark.

With the score knotted, 8-8, Illinois suddenly took control with a 17-0 run before back-to-back baskets by Johnson ended the long Illini run. Down 28-12 with 3:43 left in the first half, the Hawks surrendered a 7-0 to fall behind, 35-15, at half.

Illinois opened the second half with an 13-2 run to take a commanding lead. The Hawks fell behind by as many as 52 while IU's Will Riley made six straight shot attempts to help balloon the Illini lead. Illinois went on to cruise to a final score of 87-40.

Mount Saint Mary's (MAAC) def. Delaware State - 76-66

EMMITSBURG, MD --The Delaware State men's basketball team fell short in a 76-66 loss to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on the road Saturday.

The Hornets (2-4) had four players score in double figures, led by Kaseem Watson, who had 16 points and six rebounds. Martaz Robinson tacked on 16 points and two steals and Robert Smith helped out with 14 points and six rebounds.

Muneer Newton pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead the Delaware State offense which grabbed 15 boards and turned them into 18 second chance points.

The Delaware State defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 13 Mount St. Mary's turnovers while committing eight. Those takeaways turned into 17 points on the other end of the floor. Robinson's two steals led the way individually for the Hornets.
