NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 26, 2024 – Norfolk State guard Diamond Johnson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola.
Howard’s guard Saniyah King was named Rookie of the Week, while
Norfolk States's forward Kierra Wheeler earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Johnson (G, 5-5, Gr., Philadelphia, Pa.) delivered an impressive all-around performance last week, helping the Spartans secure a 2-0 record. Johnson averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 steals per game. In a hard-fought victory over Radford, Johnson scored 22 points, grabbed five steals, shot 44% from three-point range, and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
King (G, 5-7, Fr., Washington, DC.) recorded the best game of her young career against New Hampshire contributing 17 points, six assists and four rebounds. For the week King averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds for the Bison.
Wheeler (F, 6-1, Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.) averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.5 blocks across two wins for the Spartans. Against UNCW, Wheeler tallied 16 points and three blocks. In the victory over Radford, she contributed 17 points, two blocks and two steals.

- Laila Lawrence (CSU) registered a double-double against Sacred Heart, leading the team in both points (14) and rebounds (11).
- Mahogany Cottingham (DSU) scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds while shooting 50% from 3-point range in the loss to Pittsburgh.
- McKenzie Stewart (DSU) contributed eight points and six rebounds in the loss to Pittsburgh.
- Destiny Howell (HU) totalled 32 points with seven rebounds, six assists, two stops and three blocks through two games.
- Zennia Thomas (HU) collected 17 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and one black in a 1-1 week for the Bison.
