NSU claims fifth straight MEAC Men's Cross Country Championship Title, N.C. Central’s Meshack Kuyo Wins Individual Gold

SMYRNA, Del., Nov. 2, 2024 – Perennial powerhouse Norfolk State University placed four runners in the top five to win the 2024 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center. North Carolina Central’s Meshack Kuyo led all runners with a record-breaking championship time of 23:18.2. 

FINAL RESULTS
 
The Spartans finished with 27 team points en route to their fifth straight title and 17th overall. Kenneth Giles was named the Men’s Championship Outstanding Coach.  

North Carolina Central’s Meshack Kuyo was named Outstanding Performer. 

Norfolk State runners finished second, third, fourth and fifth led by Brian Rotich (23:34.6). Raphael Kitur (23:59.9), Victor Jumo (24:18.8) and Gidion Sigei (24:20.4) rounded out the top five. 
 
North Carolina Central claimed the runner-up trophy with 59 total team points spurred by Kuyo’s first-place finish. Emmanuel Paddyfote finished eighth in a 25:24.0 time. 

Delaware State finished third in the team rankings with 67 team points. The Hornets were paced by Marian Drazan (sixth, 24:31.6), Devin Smith (ninth, 25:27.6) and Jonathan Drew (tenth, 25:34.6). 

Maryland Eastern Shore’s Jalen Ridgeway placed seventh with a 25:15.3 time. 
 
The top 15 finishers were named All-MEAC.
