MEAC Announces Weekly Volleyball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., November 19, 2024 – Coppin State’s TaKenya Stafford was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Delaware State’s Paige Ahakuelo was named Rookie of the Week, while Howard’s Leah Reeves earned Setter of the Week honors, respectively. Coppin State’s Coco Figueroa was named Defensive Player of the Week.  

Stafford (R-Jr., OH, Los Angeles, Calif.) tallied 16 kills with just one error hitting .600 in the three-set sweep over Morgan State. She added seven digs and two aces to her stat line and moved into 5th on Coppin State's all-time kills list in two seasons of action.  

Ahakuleo (Fr., S, Winchester, Va.) recorded 18 assists, five aces and added six total digs for the Hornets in the three-set win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Reeves (Jr., S, Allen, Texas) averaged 15.3 assists totaling 46 assists in the three-set win for the Bison. Reeves added two aces and five digs to help the Bison secure the win and complete their first perfect conference season since 2016. 

Figueroa (So., L/DS, Bayamon, Puerto Rico) averaged 6.0 dig (18 total) in the three-set sweep at Morgan State. Figueroa also added seven assists and three aces. 

Other Top Performers  

  • Kahea Carvalho (CSU) averaged 6.7 assists to go with seven digs in the sweep at Morgan State.  

  •  Rya McKinnon (HOW) led all players with 16 kills helping the Bison to their first perfect conference season since 2016. 

  • Claire Simpson (HOW) totaled 17 digs with two assists for the Bison. 

  • Anisa Dorlouis (UMES) averaged 6.33 assists (38 total) and 4.1 digs (25 total) for the Hawks. 

  • Kamren Harper (NCCU) led NCCU with 14 kills with a .281 hitting percentage adding three blocks and four digs to sweep SC State. 

  • Bella Dearinger (NCCU) gathered 34 assists in three sets against SC State averaging 11.33 assists. 

  • Tayah Little (NCCU) registered five blocks and three digs in the win over SC State.
