MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 18, 2024 – Norfolk State guard Brian Moore Jr. and Maryland Eastern Shore guard Ketron Shaw were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Players of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Howard guard Blake Harper was named Rookie of the Week, while Delaware State's forward Muneer Newton earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively. 

Moore Jr. (G, 6-2, 185, Gr., Harlem, N.Y.) helped the Spartans to a 1-1 week, totaling 51 points (25.5 avg.), five assists (2.5 avg.) and seven rebounds. He shot 65.5 percent from the field (19-of-29) and 84.7 percent (11-of-13) from the free throw line for the week. Against William & Mary, Moore led the team with 31 points going 12-of-19 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 on his free throw attempts.

Shaw (G, 6-5, Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) registered 57 points (28.5 avg.) with eight rebounds, six assists and two steals for the Hawks. Against Old Dominion, Shaw recorded 30 points shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 90.0 percent from the free throw line (9-of-10). On the week, he shot 58.8 percent (20-of-35) from the field, 50.0 percent from three-point range (2-of-4) and 75.0 percent (15-of-20) from the charity stripe. 

Harper (G, 6-5, Fr., Washington, D.C.) averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals for the Bison. He led Howard with 18 points, one rebounds and one assist over Tennesse State. Harper added 12 points and seven rebounds against Dillard. 

Newton (G, 6-5, 225, Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged 11.0 points, 9-5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks for Delaware State. Against Cheyney, he recorded 17 points, six rebounds and three steals while shooting 8-of-10 from the field. He followed with 13 rebounds, three blocks and one steal against Gwynedd Mercy (Pa.), to help Delaware State to a 2-0 week. 
 
Other Top Performers 

  • Jonathan Dunn (CSU) registered a career high 22 points and six rebounds against UMBC. 

  • Toby Nnadozie (CSU) tallied five steals at Virginia while adding two more against UMBC. 

  • Martaz Robinson (DSU) averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists as the Hornets went 2-0 on the week. 

  • Marcus Dockery (HU) averaged 19.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a 2-0 week for the Bison. 

  • Kuluel Mading (NSU) recorded five blocks, five rebounds and five points for the Spartans in two games.  

  • Po’Boigh King (NCCU) led the Eagles in scoring in three of their four games this week averaging 19.8 points for 79 points total. 

  • Dionte Johnson (NCCU) registered 34 points (8.5 avg.), 12 rebounds (3.0 avg.), 16 assists (4.0 avg.) and seven steals (1.8 avg.) through four games for the Eagles.
