 The Norfolk State men's cross-country team earned a 12th-place finish Friday morning at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
 
NSU improved on last year's team standing by three spots. The event featured 33 teams with over 230 runners, placing 23-45-46-66-169.
 
Senior Gidion Sigei led the way for the Spartans, completing the 10k course in 30:35.00 to finish 23rd out of a field of over 230 runners.
 
Sigei earned all-region honors following the meet becoming the first Spartan to receive all-region honors since David Kemboi in 2006.

NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL - No Team Score
ROCK HILL, S.C. – On Friday afternoon, junior Emmanuel Paddyfote of the North Carolina Central University men's cross country team completed the NCAA Cross Country Southeast Regional Championship men's 10K race at the Winthrop Farm. Paddyfote was one of two Eagles to finish in last year's regional for the first time in program history.

With 235 finishers in the field, Paddyfote crossed the line in 166th place at 33:42.5. He shaved off time and moved up the standings from last season's appearance of 34:06.6 finishing 201st out of 288.

Paddyfote was able to race about an hour's drive from his hometown of Belmont, N.C. near the Charlotte metro area. He's improved his time in every distance this year ending his cross country season with new personal records in the 5K, 6K, 8K and 10K.
