UVA (ACC) def. Coppin State - 62-45 

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Derrius Ward and Jonathan Dunn both scored in double figures as the Coppin State men’s basketball team fell at University of Virginia, 62-45, on Monday night at John Paul Jones Arena.  The Eagles fell to 0-4 on the season as the Cavaliers improved to 2-0. 

Inside the Numbers 

  • Ward scored a team-high 12 points and just missed out on a double-double with nine rebounds.  He hit 3-of-7 from the floor with two 3-pointers and 4-of-5 from the line while adding an assist and two steals. 

  • Dunn made 5-of-11 from the field for a career-high 11 points to go with two rebounds and a block.

Howard def. Dillard (NAIA - HBCU Ath. conf.) - 91-73 

WASHINGTON (November 11, 2024) – Senior guard Marcus Dockery (Washington) scored a game-high 23 points to lead four Bison in double figures as the Howard University men's basketball team defeated Dillard (La.), 91-73, in a non-conference game at Burr Gymnasium. 

It was the Bison's first win of the season after dropping decisions at No. 1 Kansas and Missouri. 

Howard (1-2) bolted out to the early lead as Dockery and fellow guard Joshua Strong (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) combined for 22 of their team's points to give the Bison a comfortable 52-34 lead at intermission.

SC State def. Voorhees (NAIA - HBCU Ath. conf.) - 94-48 

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State defeated Voorhes 94-48 in a blow out for that.  

The Bulldogs shot 57.1 percent (36-of-63) from the field and 71.4 percent (20-of-28) from the charity stripe. 

Davion Everett led the way with 17 points while Florian Tenebay added 15points and seven rebounds.
