NORFOLK, Va., October 7, 2024 – Coppin State’s TaKenya Stafford was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola.
Delaware State’s Paige Ahakuelo was named Rookie of the Week, while
Howard’s Leah Reeves earned Setter of the Week honors, respectively.
Coppin State’s graduate Sophia Bertotti Metoyer was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Stafford (R-Jr., OH, Los Angeles, Calif.) tallied 3.57 kills and 3.71 digs per set with a match-high 12 kills paired with 10 digs against S.C. State. She added 13 kills and a match-high 16 digs in the four-set win over N.C. Central. Stafford collected two service aces and four blocks to complete her stat line.
Ahakuleo (Fr., S, Winchester, Va.) recorded 27 assists (4.50 avg.) in the weekend split for the Delaware State Hornets. Against Howard, Ahakuleo recorded 12 assists with six digs, followed by a 15-assist, nine-dig performance in a 3-0 victory over Norfolk State.
Reeves (Jr., S, Allen, Tx.) averaged 9.17 assists per set totaling 55 assists in a 2-0 week for the Bison. In the match against Delaware State, Reeves collected 25 assists with four blocks, three service aces and five digs. She added 30 assists, three blocks, one ace and four digs against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Bertotti Metoyer (Gr., MH, Spokane, Wash.) tallied 15 kills (2.14 avg.) and eight blocks (1.14 avg.) between the two matches to help Coppin State finish 2-0 on the week. She collected a season-best six blocks in the four-set win over N.C. Central. In the three-set sweep over S.C. State, Bertotti Metoyer registered a .583 hitting percentage with seven kills, no errors and two blocks.

- Kahea Carvalho (CSU) – registered 47 kills between two matches (6.71 avg.) with two service aces and 14 digs.
- Gerren Tomlin (DSU) – collected 29 kills (4.83 avg.) with two blocks, two service aces and 17 digs (2.83 avg.) through two matches for the Hornets.
- Rya McKinnon (HOW) – recorded 23 kills (3.83 avg.) with two blocks, one assist and 16 digs (2.67 avg.) in a 2-0 week for the Bison.
- Claire Simpson (HOW) – totaled 27 digs (4.50 avg.) with six assists and one ace in the 2-0 week for the Bison.
- Anisa Dorlouis (UMES) – averaged 6.33 assists (38 total) and 4.1 digs (25 total) for the Hawks.
- Gabrielle Gilbert (NSU) – collected 19 kills, five blocks, two service aces and eight digs in a 1-1 week for the Spartans.
- Sydney McCree (NSU) – recorded six kills, 24 assists, and 14 digs for the Spartans.
- Jasmine Mataira (NSU) – collected 22 assists with four aces and four digs for Norfolk State.
- Lily Rose-Pichon (NSU) – totaled 27 digs (4.5 avg.) in a 1-1 week for the Spartans.
- Kamren Harper (NCCU) – has hit double-digit kills in the last five matches which included a 20-kill performance against Coppin State on Oct. 6.
- Bella Dearinger (NCCU) averaged 8.29 assists per set totaling 58 assists over two matches for the Eagles.
- Gabriela Felix-Baeza (NCCU) – finished with 28 digs over the weekend. She had a team-high 16 against Coppin State.
- Kiyah Felder (SCSU) – helped the Bulldogs collect their first conference win since 2018 with a 15-kill performance in a four-set win over Morgan State.
- Xaria Pickett (SCSU) – registered 21 kills with 18 digs in a 1-1 week for the Bulldogs.
- Kaia Barnett (SCSU) – averaged 7.14 assists (50 total) and 2.29 digs (16 total) through two matches for S.C. State.
