DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team needed only three sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-20) to knock off South Carolina State University on Friday at home in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
The Eagles (4-14) snapped a five-match skid, claiming their second conference victory this season.
The trio of Kamren Harper (11), Kayden Cupid (9) and Tayah Little (8) combined for 28 kills on the evening. Bella Dearinger set 32 assists for her team and Neira Joldic recorded four service aces as the team combined for 12 in the match.

Coppin State def. Morgan State 3-1
BALTIMORE, Md. – Coppin State's volleyball team won its 13th straight home match with a hard-fought, 3-1 (25-14, 28-26, 24-26, 30-28) victory over crosstown rival Morgan State on Friday night at PEC Arena. The Eagles improved to 10-13 overall and 6-1 in the MEAC.
With four players recording double-digit kills, Coppin recorded a season-high 73 kills on the night, setting a school-record for kills in a four-set match. The old mark of 71 was set back on October 4, 2003, in a win against Delaware State. CSU also broke the CSU single-match record for assists in a four-set match with 70, eclipsing the old mark of 61 in a win against the Hornets on October 30, 2015.
TaKenya Stafford led the way with a match-high 18 kills while adding 18 digs for a double-double. The redshirt junior from Los Angeles, Calif., also had a pair of aces and a block while hitting .170.

PRINCESS ANNE, MD --The Delaware State volleyball team secured a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-18, 25-23) over the Maryland-Eastern Shore Lady Hawks Friday on the road at Hytche Center.
The win moved the Hornets' record to 9-11 overall and 5-2 in MEAC action.
The Hornets were led by a double-double from Gerren Tomlin, who registered 13 kills and 10 digs on the day.
Alondra Maldonado also added eight kills to help the offense. Tomlin also pitched in with nine in the contest. On the defensive end, Emma Crakow chipped in for with eight digs to go with two blocks from Hannah Sanders.
