North Carolina Central 73, Howard 54 

DURHAM, N.C. - Eagles claimed the first win of the weekend in men’s action after tipping off at 12 PM on ESPNU. After leading by ten points at the halftime break, North Carolina Central opened up nearly a 20-point lead in the second half en route to claiming the 73-54 win.  

Bryce Harris led the Bison with 21 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Eagles had four players record double-digits led by Fred Cleveland, Jr., with 24 points. Ja’Darius Harris joined Cleveland with a 20-point game putting up 21 points on the board.

Norfolk State 79, South Carolina State 72 

ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Jamarii Thomas led the Spartans in a 79-72 victory over the Bulldogs of S.C. State with some sharp shooting at the free throw line going 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.  

SCSU pulled within five points in the final 39 seconds trailing 77-72 after Caleb McCarty connected on a pair of free throws, but a last second layup from Christian Ings sealed Norfolk State’s victory.

Delaware State 55, Coppin State 53 

DOVER, Del. - A trio of free throws sealed the game for the Hornets to pick up the 55-53 win over the Eagles of Coppin State. Rookie Deywilk Tavarez put two free throws in to give Delaware State a 54-53 lead, while senior guard Martaz Robinson added one more free throw for the win.  

Robinson led all scorers with 13 points and six rebounds as the only Hornet to reach double figures in the game. Coppin State’s Preist Ryan led the Eagles with 11 points and five rebounds.

Maryland Eastern Shore 75, Morgan State 74 

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Two free throws by Troy Hupstead with 12 seconds remaining in regulation gave the Hawks the one-point lead they needed to take the victory away from the Bears in the MEAC conference opener.  

Hupstead went a perfect four-for-four from the charity stripe while teammate Toby Nnadozie was 5-of-6 as the two combined for 25 points for the Hawks. Hupstead tallied a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Wynston Tabbs for the Bears scored 20 points in the game to lead all scorers shooting 7-of-15 frim the field making four three-pointers in the game.
