NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 31, 2024 — North Carolina A&T State junior Chole Newberry was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Monmouth freshman Morgan Davis was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week.
Newberry (Jr., Lumberton, N.C.) helped the Aggies to a seventh-place team finish at the PVAMU Invite where N.C. A&T totaled a 13,618 pin count. On the weekend, she averaged 20.15 pins per frame, had a 49.2 strike percentage and averaged 9.10 pins on first ball. In Baker play, Newberry averaged 19.99 pins per frame and the weekend saw her record a 84.1 fill percentage. She finished 15th overall at the PVAMU Invite with a total pinfall of 1,221 pins and her best performance came in the first match of the tournament with 255 points.
Davis (Fr., North Richland Hills, Texas) helped the Hawks finish third at the NJ Open hosted by FDU. Monmouth picked up nine wins on the weekend with a total team pinfall of 11,457 pins. The rookie from North Richland Hills, Texas finished 40th overall with a total pin count of 598 averaging 199.33 pins per game. Her best score of the weekend came in her second game where she tallied 244 points. Davis averaged 19.00 pins per frame while recording an 80.9 fill percentage.
