BALTIMORE, Md. -
In a battle for first place, the Eagles defeated the Bison 63-58 in a down to the wire fight to the finish. 

Howard led through the first two quarters putting 31 points on the board while Coppin State trailed by five with 26 first half points. CSU came to play in the second half posting 37 points combined in the third and fourth quarters while holding Howard to just 27 pulling out the 63-58 win. 

Laila Lawrence recorded her eighth double-double of the season to lead the Eagles with a 22 point and 13 rebound performance. Faith Blackstone was the only other Eagle in double figures with 17 points.

Kaiya Creek led Howard with 22 points while Tyana Walker and Iyanna Warren rounded out the top scorers with 13 and 11 points respectively.

North Carolina Central 64, Delaware State 58
DOVER, Del. -
The Eagles pulled out the 64-58 win over the Hornets of Delaware State to improve to 9-11 overall and 2-2 in MEAC action. 

NCCU led throughout the first half scoring 37 points between the first and second quarters while DSU put 34 on the board to trail by three at the break. Delaware State scored one more point in the third quarter than N.C. Central but the Eagles closed out the game with a 12-9 run in the fourth for the win.

Janiah Jones led the Eagles with 19 points while Kyla Bryant joined her in double-figures with 10 points. Three N.C. Central athletes recorded eight rebounds in the game in Bryant, Jada Tiggett, and Aniya Finger. 

Delaware State was led by Tysonne Tollie with 16 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Ja-Naiah Perkins-Jackson tallied 15 points while Denijsha Wilson rounded out the top performers with 10 points. Naomi Zulueta brought down 10 rebounds in the game.

Norfolk State 62, Morgan State 45
NORFOLK, Va. - The Spartans claimed a convincing victory over the Lady Bears of Morgan State winning by a margin of 17 points, 62-45.

NSU led 35 to 19 at the halftime break after holding MSU to only eight points in the opening quarter. The teams both posted 17 points in the third period but Norfolk really pulled away in the final ten minutes of action going on a 20-9 rally for the win. 

Diamond Johnson led the Spartans with 19 points going a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Da’naijah Williams and Niya Fields joined her in double-digits with 12 and 11 points respectively. 

Amari Smith was the only Bear to reach double figures with 14 points shooting 4-of-8 from behind the three-point arch.

Maryland Eastern Shore 63, South Carolina State 45
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Maryland Eastern Shore protected their house picking up nearly a 20-point, 63-45 victory over the Bulldogs of South Carolina State. 

Big first and third quarter performances for the Hawks helped push the home team ahead on the scoreboard as the Bulldogs scored as many points combined in those two periods (17), as the Hawks did in each quarter. 

Mahogany Lester and Lainey Allen were the two standouts in Monday night’s victory scoring 15 and 12 points respectively. They both also tallied the most rebounds with Allen bringing down seven and Lester six. 

Taniya McGowan led the Bulldogs in both points and rebounds with 16 and seven respectively. Morgan Beacham was the only other S.C. State athlete to reach double digits with 11 points.
