BALTIMORE, Md. - The Howard Bison travels up the beltway to Baltimore and defeated the Bears of Morgan State in their house, 54-51, to improve to 3-1 in the MEAC standings.
Howard led Morgan State in the first quarter scoring 12 points to the Bears eight. MSU outscored Howard in the second quarter 15-14 putting the score at 26-23 heading into halftime with Howard sitting slightly ahead on the scoreboard. Both teams scored 28 points in the second half in a tightly contested game that the Bison held on to for the win.
Returning to the court for the Bison was Iyanna Warren to lead Howard with 12 points in the game, 10 of which came from the free throw line. Nile Miller posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tyana Walker rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.
Laila Fair led the Lady Bears with 17 points and was two rebounds shy of a double-double. Sedayjha Payne hit the double-double mark with 10 points and rebounds as the next highest scorer.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Hawks outscored the Eagles in all four quarters to claim their second MEAC win.
After holding a slim two-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 15-13, UMES extended that lead to five points by halftime as the score sat at 34-29. Maryland Eastern Shore put together a big third quarter putting 26 points on the board while holding North Carolina Central to 17 points increasing the lead to 14 points, 60-46. The Eagles played closer in the fourth quarter, but it was not quite enough to catch the Hawks who won 78-61.
Mahogany Lester led the Hawks with 20 points while Mya Thomas and Ja’la Bannerman both added 13 points apiece. Lainey Allen was the last Hawk in double-digits as she recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Morgan Callahan led the Eagles with a double-double scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Janiah Jones and Kimeira Burks were the only others to reach double figures scoring 12 and 10 points respectively.

NORFOLK, Va. - The Spartans got back on track after knocking off the Eagles of Coppin State 61-53. With the win there is a three-way tie for first in the MEAC standings between Howard, Norfolk State and Coppin State as all three schools have a 3-1 record.
Coppin State got out to the early lead holding Norfolk State to eight points in the first quarter and 14 in the second while putting 26 points on board, 11 and 15 respectively. The Spartans bounced back in the third quarter going on an 18-7 run to pull ahead 40-33 heading into the fourth. NSU led by one point, 21-20, in the fourth quarter claiming the 61-53 victory.
Diamond Johnson led Norfolk State with 22 points going 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Kierra Wheeler added a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Skye Robinson brought down 10 rebounds for her first double-digit rebound game of the season.
Tiffany Hammond led the Eagles with 19 points with Laila Lawrence joining her as the only other CSU player to score in double figures with 10 points.

Delaware State 61, South Carolina State 49
DOVER, Del. - Delaware State moved to 2-2 in MEAC action after claiming a 61-49 victory.
The Hornets led 30-13 at halftime after holding the Bulldogs to just four points in the second quarter. S.C. State put up a big third quarter scoring 25 points while holding Delaware State to 15, but DSU answered with a 16-11 run in the fourth quarter to claim the win.
Ja-Naiah Perkins-Jackson led the Hornets with 23 points going 7-of-9 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range. Denijsha Wilson was the only other DSU player in double figures with 11 points.
Cassandra Colòn led the Bulldogs with 14 points while Jada Morgan contributed 11 points as the only two players in double-figures.
