NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 25, 2024 — North Carolina A&T State graduate student Lauren Tomaszewski was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. University of Alabama Birmingham freshman Madison Colston was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week.
Tomaszewski (Gr., O’Fallon, Ill.) helped the Aggies to a second-place team finish at the Northeast Classic where N.C. A&T totaled a 14,288 total pin count. On the weekend, she averaged 22.74 pins per frame, had a 64.7 strike percentage and averaged 9.38 pins on first ball. In Baker play, Tomasewzki averaged 23.00 pins per frame and the weekend saw her record a 92.6 fill percentage. She finished sixth overall at the Northeast Classic with a total pinfall of 1,115 pins and her best performance being a perfect game (300 points) against Youngstown State.
Colston (Fr., Pinellas Park, Fla.) helped the Blazers finish 15th at the Northeast Classic hosted by Sacred Heart University. UAB picked up nine wins on the weekend with a total team pinfall of 12,816 pins. The rookie from Pinellas Park, Florida finished 17th overall with a total pin count of 1,068 averaging 213.60 pins per game. Her best score of the weekend came in her first game where she tallied 234 points. Colston averaged 18.83 pins per frame while recording an 81.8 fill percentage.
Other Top Performers
Savannah Schneider (UAB) helped the Blazers to a 15th place team finish while recording an individual pin count of 1,054 pins on the weekend. Tallied a weekend high score of 289 points in the first game of the Classic. She averaged 210.80 points per game.
Gabrielle Ochoa Hubbard (Maryland Eastern Shore) finished 12th at the Northeast Classic with 1,094 total pins and an average of 218.80 pins per game. Hubbard’s weekend high was in game four with a score of 243 points.
Emily Breidegam (Delaware State) averaged 198.0 pins per game with a total weekend pinfall of 990 on the weekend.
