MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., January 24, 2024 – Morgan State guard Wynston Tabbs was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Coppin State Ryan Archey was named Rookie of the Week, while Howard guard Bryce Harris earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.

Tabbs (G, 6-3, 195, Sr., Suitland, Md.) scored seven of his 25 points (7-12 FG) in overtime to lead the Bears to an 89-86 victory against Coppin State last week. He also recorded four steals, three boards, and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Archey (G, 6-0, 170, Fr., Clinton, Md.) registered a career-high 26 points, connecting on 8-of-11 baskets (73%) with two rebounds. He knocked down 15 points in the second half and seven points in overtime against Morgan State.

Harris (G, 6-4, 220, Jr., Brentwood, N.Y.) recorded a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds against Norfolk State. Defensively, he added two blocked shots and one steal.

Other Top Performers

  • Devon Ellis (Maryland E. Shore) averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in to help the Hawks finish 1-1 last week.
  • Troy Hupstead (Maryland E. Shore) fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 27 points and nine rebounds against Delaware State.
  • Martaz Robinson (Delaware State) recorded 24 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and three steals in an overtime win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
  • Greg Spurlock (Coppin State) tallied 14 points, eight boards, and four steals against Morgan State.
  • Deywilk Tavarez (Delaware State) posted 19 points, with six rebounds, four assists and two steals in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
  • Jamarii Thomas (Norfolk State) scored 14 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, to lead Norfolk State to a comeback victory over Howard.
  • Allen Udemadu (Morgan State) scored a career-high 24 points on 7-of-8 shooting and connecting on 10-of-12 free throws, with seven boards and two blocks, against Coppin State.
