MEAC Announces 2024 Tennis Preseason Order of Finish

NORFOLK, Virginia, January 12, 2024 – The South Carolina State men’s and women’s tennis programs were selected as the preseason favorites to win the 2024 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) titles, the conference office announced today.  

The polls were voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. 

South Carolina State won their third consecutive men’s title last season after going 10-10 overall and a perfect 5-0 in MEAC play. The Bulldogs were selected as the preseason favorite to repeat the run at the 2024 MEAC title after racking up 11 of the possible 12 first place votes for 71 points. North Carolina Central took second in the preseason rankings with 52 points, while Morgan State was selected third at 49 points.  

On the women’s side, South Carolina State claimed the program’s 17th championship title, fourth consecutive, after defeating Delaware State in the 2023 MEAC Championship match. The Bulldogs finished the 2023 season 12-8 while flaunting a perfect 6-0 record in MEAC action. S.C. State claimed eight of the possible 14 first-place votes for 89 points. N.C. Central took second with 69 points and two first-place votes while Delaware State was close behind with 65 points and two first-place votes. Howard and Norfolk State both collected a first-place vote as well.  

The 2024 MEAC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships will be held April 25-27 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. with the Eagles of North Carolina Central serving as the host institution.
