WASHINGTON, D.C. - A late second half surge helped push Norfolk State to victory in the rivalry game at Howard giving head coach Robert Jones his 200th career coaching win as NSU won 65-61 in the Nation's capital.
The Bison held the lead throughout the first half as Howard shot 50 percent from the field while Norfolk State shot 35.7 percent putting the score at 34-26 at the half.
Howard led by as many as 15 points, 41-26, with 17:20 remaining on the clock but baskets started to fall for Norfolk State who closed the game to three points, 46-43, with 10:58 to play. HU reclaimed an 11-point lead, 54-43, following a pair of free throws from Bryce Harris (7:49) but an Allen Betrand jumper started an 18-7 run by the Spartans that saw the score even up at 61 all with 55 seconds left to play. Jamarii Thomas hit a three pointer with 25 seconds to give the Spartans the lead and Christian Ings scored a free throw with seven seconds to play giving NSU just enough of a lead to claim the 64-61 victory.
Jamarii Thomas and Allen Betrand led the Spartans in the come from behind win with 14 points each. Christian Ings added 11 points as the only other NSU player with double-digit points.
The Bison were led by Bryce Harris with 21 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Marcus Dockery was the only other Howard player in double figures with 11 points.

BALTIMORE, Md. - The teams were neck and neck throughout both halves of regulation play. The Bears made a late run in overtime to claim the 89-86 victory.
The Eagles held as much as an 11-point lead in the first half of action, but the Bears clawed back to even the score at 34 all heading into halftime.
The second half of play saw Morgan State take a 15-point lead, but Coppin State battled back in the final five minutes of regulation to knot the score at 76 all forcing overtime.
CSU Led by five points, 81-76 with 4:16 to play before MSU came back to tie the score at 83 and again at 85 all. A late jumper by Wynston Tabbs and a pair of free throws made by Will Thomas gave the Bears just enough of a lead to clinch the win.
Allen Udemadu and Wynston Tabbs led the Eagles with 24 points each. Udemadu shot 7-of-8 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line while Tabbs went 7-of-12 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 at the charity stripe. Will Thomas added 17 points while Rob Lawson rounded out the Bears’ top scorers with 10 points.
Rookie Ryan Archey led the Eagles with 26 points going 8-of-11 from the field and 9-of-15 from the free throw line. Aa’reyon Munir-Jones added 15 points while Greg Spurlock and Camaren Sparrow contributed 14 and 12 points respectively.

DOVER, Del. - Late heroics by Robinson, Tavarez, and Muniz helped the Hornets claim their third MEAC win with a 67-63 overtime win against Maryland Eastern Shore.
UMES took the lead early 7-4 before DSU came back to lead 16-7 following a 12-0 run. The hosting Hornets continued to steam on opening a 17-point lead at the half, 35-18.
The Hawks cut down the Hornets lead in the second half taking a 50-47 lead following a 32-12 rally. In the final five minutes of regulation the teams evened the score four times with a layup from Muniz putting the score at 56 all to force overtime.
Both teams had chances to lead but Delaware State held the lead more throughout overtime. Muniz for DSU connected on three free throws late to help secure the win for the Hornets.
Martaz Robinson led the Hornets in the overtime victory with 24 points shooting 6-of-17 from the field and 12-of-17 from the free throw line. Deywilk Tavarez contributed 19 points while Jevin Muniz added 13 as the top three scorers for DSU.
Maryland Eastern Shore was led by Troy Hupstead with 27 points going 10-of-15 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Tyler Mack and Devon Ellis rounded out the top scorers with 11 points apiece.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. - The Eagles opened the game on a 12-4 run as the clock approached the 15-minute mark. The Bulldogs fought back to even the score at 16 all and took a four-point lead, 20-16, following a 16-4 rally that ran the clock down to 8:37. The score tied five times while the lead changed hands six times with NCCU holding a narrow 36-33 lead at the break.
North Carolina Central opened up a 10-point lead, 43-33, early in the second half before South Carolina closed the gap to three, 43-40. The Eagles reclaimed a double-digit lead, 61-47, before the Bulldogs cut the lead down evening the score at 67 all with 2:48 left on the clock following a 20-6 run by South Carolina State. SCSU scored four of the final five points to claim their first conference win.
Michael Teal led the Bullodgs with 17 points and six assists while RaQuan Brown was the only other SCSU athlete to reach double figures with 13 points.
North Carolina Central was led by Po’Boigh King and Ja’Darius Harris with 19 points apiece as the only Eagles to score in double-digits.
