NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 4, 2023 – Coppin State graduate student middle hitter/outside hitter Ammaarah Williams was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Anisa Dorlouis was named Rookie of the Week, while Coppin State redshirt senior Andrea Tsvetanova was named Setter of the Week, and teammate Ashley Roman earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Williams (Gr., MH/OH, Cleveland, Ohio) earned All-Tournament honors as the Eagles won all three matches in the Marshall Invitational this past weekend, averaging 3.83 kills and 3.08 digs per set. She recorded double-doubles against UNC Greensboro (17 kills, 14 digs) and Marshall (13 kills, 14 digs), and had 16 kills, nine digs, and three blocks against Morehead State. Williams hit .250 for the weekend, including .343 against Morehead State.
Dorlouis (Fr., S, Gainesville, Fla.) was strong all-around in the Hawks’ four-set win over Central Connecticut State, recording 22 assists, nine digs, three service aces, and three kills. She also recorded three kills, going error-free, against American.
Tsvetanova (r-Sr., S, Sofia, Bulgaria) averaged 9.4 assists per set in Coppin’s perfect weekend at Marshall, twice eclipsing the 40-assist mark. Her weekend high of 45 assists came against Marshall – a match in which she also recorded 10 digs for a double-double – and she had 43 assists in the opener against UNC Greensboro. Each match also saw Tsvetanova record at least two service aces, and she had a season-high five against Morehead State.
Roman (r-Sr., L, Isabela, Puerto Rico) averaged 5.17 digs per set for the Eagles this past weekend and was named to the Marshall Invitational All-Tournament Team. She topped the 20-dig mark twice over the weekend, racking up a season-high 27 against UNC Greensboro and adding 25 more against host Marshall.

Coco Figueroa (Coppin State) recorded 11 digs against UNC Greensboro.
Alondra Maldonado (Delaware State) had nine kills against Belmont and tied for the team high with eight in a straight-set win over Syracuse.
Valeria Otero (Delaware State) recorded 11 digs against Michigan State and 10 against Belmont.
Naz Tuncay (Delaware State) had a weekend-high 18 assists against Belmont, after recording 17 against Syracuse.
Kayla Diaz (Howard) recorded a weekend-high 37 assists, six digs, and three aces against Winthrop
Rya McKinnon (Howard) recorded a double-double (18 kills, 10 digs) in a five-set win over Winthrop, while also recording 11 kills and a season-high 20 digs against N.C. State.
Claire Simpson (Howard) recorded 21 digs against N.C. State and 20 against Winthrop, averaging 4.9 digs per set.
Derionah Abner (Maryland Eastern Shore) had 15 kills on .615 hitting against Marist, while also recording 14 kills in a win over Central Connecticut State.
Makila Billingsley (Morgan State) had 12 kills in a win over Dartmouth and added 11 more in a five-set victory over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Alyssa Sampson (Morgan State) recorded 13 digs each against Dartmouth and Fairleigh Dickinson.
Emmie Modlin (North Carolina Central) hit .375 and recorded 19 kills in a win over Gardner-Webb.
Eleisha Thompson (South Carolina State) was named to the Wofford/Upstate Invitational All-Tournament Team.
