BALTIMORE, Md. -- TaKenya Stafford recorded a career-high 21 kills and six blocks as Coppin State was victorious over MEAC rival Maryland Eastern Shore, 3-2 (25-13, 22-25, 25-14, 25-27, 15-8) in its home opener on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles (12-2, 2-0 MEAC) have won four straight matches.
Stafford swung .250 from the pin on 48 swings while falling just short of a double-double with eight digs. Her 21 kills surpassed the 20 she had as a member of Eastern Illinois at Belmont on Oct. 15, 2021.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Delaware State bounced back from Friday's defeat with a four-set win over Morgan State on the road on Sunday, improving to 1-1 in MEAC play.
The set scores were 18-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-12.
Ella Sanders and Alondra Maldonado each recorded 10 kills to lead the Hornets, while Valeria Otero and Maria Caratini each racked up 12 digs on defense.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Howard completed a perfect weekend to open MEAC play on Sunday, defeating North Carolina Central 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-23) in Burr Gymnasium.
The Bison improved to 6-8 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Rya McKinnon led a balanced Howard attack with nine kills, while Jennifer Bolden added eight on .500 hitting and Kaitlynn Robinson and Dami Aojobi each chipped in seven kills.

NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk State held off the Bulldogs of South Carolina State in four sets at Gill Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans complete the weekend sweep to opening the MEAC and home slate.
Gabrielle Gilbert led NSU with 15 kills and a season-high five service aces. Shonte Seale recorded her second double-double of the weekend with 10 kills and 14 digs, as well as a pair of blocks and assists. Adlene Jideofor led the Spartans with five blocks and added eight kills.
