HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Coppin State rallied from two sets down at the Marshall Invitational to defeat the host Thundering Herd, 3-2 (21-25, 7-25, 25-18, 25-16, 15-9) on Saturday afternoon at Cam Henderson Center.
The Eagles have won four straight matches to improve to 5-1 on the year, which is the best start in program history.
The Eagles got double-doubles from Ammaarah Williams (13 kills, 14 digs) and Andrea Tsvetanova (45 assists, 10 digs) while Hope Casel and TaKenya Stafford added 12 kills apiece. In the middle, Geraldyn Palacios had nine kills with a team-high three blocks, while Laila Ibrahim had seven kills on nine swings.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Delaware State played in a pair of matches on Saturday on Michigan State's campus, opening with a straight-set win (25-15, 25-16, 25-22) win over Syracuse.
The nightcap saw the Hornets fall to Belmont in straight sets.
In what was a balanced offensive attack for Delaware State, Alondra Maldonado, Gerren Tomlin, and Ella Sanders each led with eight kills. Maldonado hit a team-high .500, while Tomlin and Naz Tuncay each had two service aces.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Maryland Eastern Shore was able to come away with a win to close out week two of the season at the American University tournament on Saturday. After allowing a comeback in the first set, the Hawks soared to three straight against Central Connecticut State University for a 3-1 victory.
The Hawks won 25-27, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20.
Derionah Abner led the team with 14 kills, with Nkemjika Ikemefuna behind at 10 and Ranyla Griggs at nine; the team hit a combined .310, which was a season high.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- A day after notching its first win of the season, Morgan State responded with a 3-2 (22-25, 14-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-13) win over Fairleigh Dickinson in the Morgan/Towson Invitational.
Later in the day, Rider defeated the Bears 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-13).
In the FDU match, Makila Billingsley led the way offensively with 11 kills.
