Delaware State Sweeps Titles at DSU Sting Invite
SMYRNA, Del. -- The Delaware State men's and women's cross country teams recorded first-place finishes in the team standings in the DSU Sting Invitational at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center over the weekend.
The Hornet women had six runners finish in the top 10. Ashley Lagat led the way in first place, running a 20:25.4, and she was joined by Purity Kattam (2nd place, 20:52.5), Sabreeya Travis (6th place, 21:22.5) Ava Larkin (7th place, 21:28.9), Leila Garraud (8th place 21:40.0), and Layla James (10th place 22:01.5) in the Top 10.
The Delaware State men had three runners finish in the top 10. Marian Drazan (1st place, 16:02.6) joined Devin Smith (2nd place, 16:29.3), and Jonathan Drew (7th place, 16:48.4).

Morgan State Comes in Second, Third at DSU Sting Invite
SMYRNA, Del. -- The Morgan State women's cross country team placed two runners in the top five and three in the top 10 to help the Lady Bears place second in the season opener DSU Sting Invite on Friday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Lady Bears was Abigail Fisher, who placed third in a time of 20:57.2. Jalissa Emmens came in fourth, crossing the line in a time of 21:00.3.
Morgan State's men had a pair of runners finish in the top 10. Perry Bennett placed fourth with a time of 16:37.7, followed by junior Davian Gray in fifth place with a time of 16:42.5.

Howard Cross Country Competes at Virginia Tech Invitational
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Howard University returned to action after nearly two weeks away from competition, competing in the Virginia Tech Invitational, hosted by the Hokies.
Overall, both squads finished sixth in the standings.
On the women's side, third-year Bison Joslyn Crosby led the way with a mark of 23:50.20 (31st overall). For the men, redshirt junior Wendesen King was the lone Bison to crack the top 50. The Ohio product placed 32nd overall, clocking in at 26:10.20.

N.C. Central Competitive at adidas Challenge
CARY, N.C. -- A pair of North Carolina Central women's cross country runners broke the 20-minute mark in the 5k, while the top three Eagles on the men's side were all within one minute of each other in the 6K to highlight competition at the 2023 adidas XC Challenge hosted by N.C. State University at the WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday evening.
The NCCU men went first and finished 12th out of 17 teams. The women then placed 10th out of 13 programs.
Sophomore Emmanuel Paddyfote had the top overall finish for the Eagles, placing 52nd out of 154 finishers in the men's 6K with a time of 19:44. Paddyfote finished the race 37 seconds faster than he did as a freshman last year.

Coppin State Opens Season at DSU Sting Invite
SMYRNA, Del. -- Coppin State's men's cross country team took fifth of eight teams while the women finished seventh as the Eagles opened their season last Friday at the Sting Invite at the DSU Research & Outreach Center.
Etiam Torgbenu led the men's squad by finishing 17th overall with a time of 18:01.9 on the 5K course. He was followed shortly after by freshman Humed Nura in 18:18.7 and Asa Francis in 18:32.2.
On the women's side, Saidai Stuteley led the way by covering the course in 24:45.8.
