MOBILE, Ala. -- The 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl Watchlist has been announced and features North Carolina Central University's senior quarterback Davius Richard and junior offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins III.
Simpkins' (Charlotte, N.C.) 2023 campaign began with being named to the Bluebloods 2023 FCS Preseason All-American Team as a third-team honoree on the offensive line. Simpkins' 2022 season concluded with earning All-MEAC First Team honors, starting all 12 games at center for the No. 1 scoring offense and total offense in the MEAC, and ranked second on the squad with an average grade of 85.3%.
Richard (Belle Glade, Fla.) is beginning his senior year as one of the standouts named to the 2023 Walter Payton Award Preseason Watchlist. The award is given annually to the national offensive player of the year in Division I FCS college football. After three seasons (2019, 2021-22), Richard ranks second on NCCU's all-time career passing list with 6,814 passing yards and 52 passing touchdowns, and second in career total offense with 8,210 total yards.
The Reese's Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile the past 74 years. More than 900 NFL personnel, including key decision-makers from all 32 teams, and over 1,100 media members from around the country were credentialed last year.
In each of the past three years, the Reese's Senior Bowl has had 100 or more players drafted and over 40 percent of the entire draft class, which are both record-setting figures for any all-star game.
