DOVER, Del., June 23, 2023 -- Delaware State University has announced that Jazmone Turner has been appointed as interim head women's basketball coach for the 2023-24 season, while Samantha Noviscky is the Hornets' new head bowling coach.
Turner is in her third year on the Lady Hornets' staff, serving as associate head coach the previous two seasons. Before arriving at Delaware State, she was an assistant coach at Indiana State (2020-21) and Coppin State (2017-20). Turner began her collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Division II Ohio Valley University in 2014 before serving as interim head coach during the 2015-16 season.
She played three years of college basketball at Muskingum University in Ohio, where she was team captain from 2008-11. A native of Dayton, Ohio, and 2012 Muskingum grad, Turner was listed among the 2019 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 30 Under 30 class.
Noviscky, who led the Hornets during the 2003 season, was a standout member of the 2005-09 Delaware State bowling teams. She helped lead the Hornets to their first MEAC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2008-09 season. The 2008-09 Delaware State team reached the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament and rose to No. 3 in the national polls during the regular season.
Noviscky served as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2009-10 Hornets, which also captured the MEAC championship and competed in the NCAA Tournament. She graduated from Delaware State in 2009.
