--
For the second time in program history, the Eagles of North Carolina Central will play in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship game following a 10-1 run-rule win over Coppin State on Thursday evening.

Ivory Jones hit a two-run blast over the left field fence following a walk to Morgan Green to seal the game for N.C. Central.

North Carolina Central plated five runs in the first inning on their way to a 10-1 win over the Eagles of Coppin State to advance to the program's second appearance in the MEAC Softball Championship game on the last three seasons on Saturday at 12 p.m.

Coppin State fell into the elimination bracket and will face the Howard vs. Maryland Eastern Shore winner on Friday at 3 p.m.

Jai’lyn Edwards got the scoring started when she scored off a single by Takia Nichols to left field, and then two batters later, Nichols would come around to score after an infield single by Jaden Davis.

The next three batters in the lineup (Jaylah Barr, Davis, and Morgan Green) came in to score to give the Eagles the early 5-0 lead over Coppin State.

Coppin State scratched a run across in the top half of the third inning when Manaia Fonotia came around to score off a single from Seryna Esparza, but the Eagles were not able to get anything else.
