NORFOLK, Va. -- The Norfolk State University softball team completed the three-game series sweep of the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University at NSU Softball Field in Norfolk, Va. on Saturday afternoon. NSU won the game 9-7. 

A seven-run fifth inning helped put the Spartans in the lead as NSU claimed a 9-7 victory over the Bulldogs of SCSU.
   

Morgan State 2, Delaware State 1
 
BALTIMORE, Md. – Morgan State completed its three-game series sweep of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foe Delaware State with a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Lois T. Murray Field.
 
The Lady Bears, who outscored the Hornets this weekend, 18-1 – including two shutout wins – have now won 17 straight over Delaware State dating back to the 2017 season. Morgan State has held the Hornets scoreless in 12 of those 17 victories.
 
Morgan State, winners of four straight, improved to 20-13 overall and 10-1 in the MEAC, while Delaware State (6-21, 2-9 MEAC) dropped its eighth straight.  
 
It's the third straight 20-win season for the Lady Bears and the sixth in the last seven years since the 2017 campaign. The 2020 season was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
   
North Carolina Central 11, Howard 3
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The North Carolina Central University softball team notched its second 11-3 triumph over host Howard University in two days to win the rubber game of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series on Saturday at the National Youth Academy.
 
NCCU improved to 12-23 on the season while remaining in a tie for first place in the conference standings after securing its fourth consecutive MEAC series win. The Eagles improved their league ledger to 10-1, which is tied for first with Morgan State. The Bison dipped to 11-20 on the year and 4-6 in league play.
 
The 10th conference win for the maroon and gray is tied for the most league wins for NCCU since the Eagles joined the MEAC at the start of the 2011-12 season (NCCU finished 10-5 in 2019).
   

Maryland Eastern Shore 7, Coppin State 1

BALTIMORE, Md. — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team picked up its first series sweep of the 2023 campaign, taking the series finale against Coppin State 7-1.

The win was the 10th of the 2023 campaign for the Hawks, who have now won four of their last five contests. Coppin fell to 4-22 overall on the season after being swept by UMES for the first time since 2018.
