NORFOLK, Va. -- The Norfolk State University Spartan softball team returns to the NSU Softball Field for a MEAC series against the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University. The Spartans and Bulldogs will square off in a doubleheader on Thursday evening, with a single game to follow on either Friday or Saturday weather depending.
The series dates have been pushed up a day starting on Thursday and finishing either Friday or Saturday depending on the forecast.
The Spartans (14-15, 5-4) head into the weekend series against the Bulldogs (3-20, 2-5) after sweeping Coppin State in a three game series last weekend at the NSU Softball Field.
Norfolk State leads the all-time series against South Carolina State 41-29*, dating back to the 1994 season. The Spartans have won the last three contests between the two teams which were the most recent encounters during the 2022 season. NSU swept the series defeating SCSU 7-2, 13-4 (6), 15-7 (6), down in Orangeburg, S.C.
NSU enters the series with the MEAC Pitcher of the week in their arsenal in Cam Andersen who threw 12 innings in two games with 12 strikeouts and a complete game (six inning 9-1 win over CSU).
