NORFOLK, Va., April 3, 2023 –
North Carolina Central junior Maegan Garrison has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the league announced today.
North Carolina Central’s Makiya Graves was named Rookie of the Week, and
Norfolk State senior Cam Andersen was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Garrison (5-4, Jr., 3B, Harrisburg, N.C.) batted 6-for-14 (.429) in five games, driving in a combined 12 runs and scoring six times in helping the Eagles to a 3-2 week – including a three-game sweep of Delaware State. She hit two home runs and two doubles for the week, hitting safely in all five games. She had four RBIs on a grand slam against Appalachian State and drove in two runs in each game of the Delaware State series.
Graves (5-7, Fr., UTL, Mebane, N.C.) hit .526 (10-for-19) in five games, scoring six times and driving in a pair of runs. Hitting safely in all five games, Graves went 5-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in the series opener against Delaware State, and she followed that up with a 2-for-3 effort and two more runs scored in the second game of the doubleheader.
Andersen (5-5, Sr., P/1B, Norfolk, Va.) gave up just one run and one hit in a complete-game win over Coppin State. In six full innings of work, Andersen struck out a season-high seven batters.

Maryn Jordan (Howard) went a combined 5-for-8 at the plate against Morgan State.
Jaycee Holt (Maryland Eastern Shore) was 4-for-7 with four RBIs and three runs scored in a doubleheader against South Carolina State.
Katelyn Smitchko (Maryland Eastern Shore) went 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs in the second game of the doubleheader against South Carolina State, after pitching 5.2 innings for the win in the first game.
Anaya Hunte (Morgan State) struck out six in a six-inning win over Towson, before picking up a save against Howard.
Madison Nunez (Morgan State) hit two home runs and drove in five in a 2-2 week for the Bears, with splits against Towson and Howard.
Kenna Higa (Norfolk State) hit the game-tying home run in the second game of the doubleheader against Coppin State.
Ashanti Eubanks (North Carolina Central) picked up two wins in the circle over Delaware State and was 2-1 for the week.
Taylor Ames-Alexander (South Carolina State) drove in four runs and scored three times against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Destiny Calloway (South Carolina State) picked up the win against Maryland Eastern Shore, scattering five hits in seven innings.
Kylie Nelson (South Carolina State) was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs in game two of the doubleheader against Maryland Eastern Shore.
