NCCU Women’s Tennis Sweeps Norfolk State

NORFOLK, Va. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team extended their win streak to six with a 7-0 sweep of Norfolk State University inside the Virginia Beach Country Club on Saturday afternoon.

In singles play, freshman Alejandra Hidalgo Vega beat Aleksandra Evdokimova 6-3, 6-2 to claim her sixth straight win, while her classmate Candice Bernier defeated Breana Cook 6-3, 6-0 to earn her fourth consecutive victory.

Sophomore Isabelle Exsted stretched her win streak to seven with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Niya Grant, while her classmate Kennedy Hill beat Laura Ruiz 6-1, 6-2 for her seventh win of the season.

Junior Jade Houston beat Amal Gati 6-3, 6-1 for her third consecutive win, while sophomore Lafi Joao earned her second straight win by defeating Zada McMorris 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles action, Hill/Bernier beat Evdokimova/Gati (6-2), Joao/Houston clipped Grant/McMorris (6-1), and Hidalgo Vega/Exsted's bout with Ruiz/Cook went unfinished.
