MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 28, 2023Morgan State junior Cheyenne Washington was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today.
 
Washington (Jr., Pontiac, Mich.) was named All-Tournament at the New Jersey Open after leading Morgan State to a second-place finish, averaging 216.0 pins in traditional play – including a 232.25 average in her last five games and a weekend best of 265. For the weekend, she averaged 21.46 pins per frame, had a 54.6 strike percentage and averaged 9.16 pins on first ball. In Baker play, she averaged 21.41 pins per frame and the weekend saw her record an 89.2 fill percentage.
 
Other Top Performers
Logan Brown (Coppin State) was top-20 at the Vern Stallings Invitational after averaging 189.17 pins in traditional play.
 
Mariana Santos (Maryland Eastern Shore) averaged 194.8 pins at the Vern Stallings Invitational, helping the Hawks to a third-place team finish.
 
Jamie Phelan (Monmouth) bowled a weekend-best 255 at the New Jersey Open and averaged 216.5 pins in traditional play.
 
Melanie Katen (North Carolina A&T State) averaged 207.17 pins in traditional play at the Vern Stallings Invitational, bowling a weekend-best 245.
