DOVER, Del. -- Cortney Gardner stole a long inbounds pass and took it in for a breakaway layup with 1.8 seconds left, giving Coppin State a 34-32 victory at Delaware State on Monday night at Memorial Hall.
The Eagles now stand at 8-20 overall and 5-8 in the MEAC, while the Hornets fall to 6-18 with a 4-9 mark in league play.
Jewel Watkins led all players with 14 points, with three 3-pointers, along with seven rebounds. Gardner was second to Watkins with six points and added three rebounds and three steals, while Colleen Bucknor grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and blocked a career-high four shots.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Aziah Hudson dropped 15 points to lead three Bison in double figures Monday evening, as defending MEAC champion Howard bounced back with a 60-55 win over South Carolina State at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Center.
The Bison improved to 13-13 overall and 9-4 in MEAC play.
Hudson was 6-for-12 from the floor, and she was joined in double figures by Destiny Howell (14 points, six rebounds) and Nyla Cooper (11).

Maryland Eastern Shore 73, Morgan State 70
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Zamara Haynes tied a game high with 21 points, leading three Hawks in double figures Monday evening in Hytche Athletic Center as Maryland Eastern Shore defeated Morgan State 73-70, handing the Bears their fourth straight loss.
The Hawks improved to 9-18 overall and 5-8 in MEAC play.
Haynes was 8-for-14 from the floor and added six assists. Mya Thomas added 16 points, while Lainey Allen recorded a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

Norfolk State 79, North Carolina Central 67
DURHAM, N.C. -- For the second consecutive season, Norfolk State will finish the regular season atop the MEAC standings. This time, they did it as outright champions.
The Spartans dominated from start to finish on Monday night in avenging their last loss with a 79-67 victory over North Carolina Central at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Camille Downs scored 14 of her game- and season-high 25 points in the first half, including nine in the first period, to pace Norfolk State. She went 9-for-11 from the floor, to go along with five assists, four rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot.
Kierra Wheeler posted a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards, with three steals and one blocked shot, while Deja Francis recorded 10 points, a team-high seven assists, two steals and two rebounds.
