DURHAM, N.C. – Senior center Brendan Medley-Bacon tied the North Carolina Central University record with eight blocked shots as the host Eagles withstood a furious comeback effort by MEAC-leading Howard University to knock off the Bison, 68-60, in front of a near-capacity crowd at McDougald-McLendon Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Three of Medley-Bacon's eight rejections came in the final three minutes to keep Howard scoreless, as NCCU posted the last eight points of the contest to extend its win streak to five games.

NCCU junior guard Justin Wright scored a game-high 24 points on 8-of-19 shooting from the floor with a pair of triples and was perfect on all six free throws.
 
NCCU returns to action on Monday, Feb. 27, as the Eagles host Norfolk State University (20-8, 9-3 MEAC) in another big conference match-up inside McDougald-McLendon Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Morgan State 83, Delaware State 78
 
BALTIMORE, Md. Morgan State men's basketball defended home court with an 83-78 win over Delaware State to improve to 2-1 against the Hornets this season. The Bears are now 14-14 and improved to 6-6 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) action and 10-1 at home. Senior guard Isaiah Burke led four Bears in double-figures with 21 points, six assists and four boards.  
 
Burke scored 13 of his team-high 21 points (4-7 FG) in the second half and played all 40 minutes.
 
The Bears travel to Princess Anne, Md. to take on Maryland Eastern Shore at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
 
Norfolk State 88, South Carolina State 76
 
ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Norfolk State secured its 20th win of the 2022-23 campaign on Saturday with an 88-76 result at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
 
The occasion marked the Spartans' second consecutive year with at least 20 wins, the first time achieving the feat in back-to-back seasons since the 2011-12 and 2012-13 campaigns.
 
Joe Bryant, Jr. led Norfolk State (20-8, 9-3 MEAC) with 24 points, his 10th 20-point game of the season. The Spartans received a huge spark off the bench from Daryl Anderson, scoring 17 points with a game-high four 3-pointers.
 
Norfolk State battles the Eagles (15-11, 8-4) on Monday night at 7:30 p.m., a matchup with huge MEAC Tournament implications.
 
Maryland Eastern Shore 78, Coppin State 57
 
BALTIMORE, Md. - Donchevell Nugent scored a game-high 21 points off the bench to lead the Maryland Eastern Shore men’s basketball team to a 78-57 win over Coppin State on Saturday at the Physical Education Complex.
 
Zion Styles and Chace Davis also scored in double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively. UMES improved to 16-11 overall and 8-4 in the MEAC with the win. Coppin State fell to 7-22, 2-10.
 
The Hawks travel to Dover, Del. For a 7:30 p.m. matchup with Delaware State.
