Jayla Johnson and Alexis Moragne each hit a free throw in the game's final minute as Delaware State defeated South Carolina State 50-49 Monday evening in Memorial Hall.

The Hornets improved to 5-17 overall and 3-8 in MEAC play.

Moragne led the way with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Savannah Brooks added 13 points and six boards. Jessica Martino grabbed 14 rebounds and Ty Tollie added 10.

Howard 64, Morgan State 56

BALTIMORE, Md. --
Destiny Howell led the way with 24 points and the Bison had three players score in double figures Monday as defending MEAC champion Howard defeated Morgan State 64-56 in Hill Field House, handing the Bears their second straight MEAC defeat.

The Bison, meanwhile, improved to 12-12 overall and 8-3 in MEAC play in winning their sixth in seven games.

Howell went 9-for-14 from the floor and hit four 3-pointers, while also grabbing four rebounds and blocking three shots. Azia Hudson added 14 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Brooklynn Fort-Davis had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Maryland Eastern Shore 92, North Carolina Central 74

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --
Maryland Eastern Shore had four players score in double figures Monday evening at the Hytche Athletic Center, and the Hawks withheld a second-half rally to defeat North Carolina Central 92-74.

Mya Thomas led UMES (7-17, 3-7 MEAC) with 18 points, going 7-for-11 from the floor, while Zamara Haynes added 16 points off the bench. Ja'la Bannerman added 12 points and Mahogany Lester chipped in 10 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds.

Kimeira Burks led NCCU (12-14, 6-5 MEAC) with 22 points.

Norfolk State 47, Coppin State 36

NORFOLK, Va. -- 
Norfolk State struggled from the floor through three quarters but used a fourth-quarter surge to earn a 47-36 Senior Night victory over Coppin State on Monday night at Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall.
 
Norfolk State (21-5 overall, 9-2 MEAC) shot 23.9 percent (11-of-46) from the field through three quarters. However, the Spartans shot 33 percent during the final period and was 4-of-5 from the free throw line to pull past Coppin State. The Eagles (6-19, 3-7) led 30-25 with 6:04 left in the third period, but went without a field goal for the next 10 minutes, in between the third and fourth quarters, as NSU used a 16-3 run during that span to grab a 41-33 lead.
 
Kierra Wheeler paced Norfolk State with nine points, seven rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot. Deja Francis, Niya Fields, Camille Downs and Danaijah Williams each recorded seven points as the Spartans shot 26.2 percent (16-of-61).
