Coppin State 52, Howard 41
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Mossi Staples led the way with 13 points, and Howard was held to just 24 perfect shooting, as Coppin State celebrated Homecoming on Saturday with a 52-41 win over the defending MEAC champion Bison at the PEC Arena.
The Bison saw their five-game win streak come to an end.
On a day when points were at a premium, Coppin State led 53-34 in rebounding -- including 14-6 on the offensive glass.

Maryland Eastern Shore 76, South Carolina State 34
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Three Maryland Eastern Shore players scored in double figures Saturday afternoon in Smith-Hammond-Middleton, and the Hawks snapped a dour-game skid with a 76-34 win over South Carolina State.
The Hawks improved to 6-17 overall and 2-7 in MEAC play.
Kiarra Kennedy and Zamara Haynes each had 11 points to lead UMES, which shot just over 49% from the floor, while Mya Thomas came off the bench to add 10 points. Haynes also had a team-high six rebounds.

Norfolk State 74, Morgan State 37
NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk State forced 26 turnovers and held Morgan State to just 23 percent shooting as the Spartans used a huge second quarter to pull away from the Bears 74-37 in a MEAC game on Saturday afternoon at Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall.
Norfolk State (20-5 overall, 9-2 MEAC) led 16-8 after one quarter, but outscored Morgan State 22-5 in the second, taking a commanding 38-13 into the break. The Bears (15-7, 8-1) were held to 25 percent (2-of-8) shooting in the second quarter as the Spartans celebrated Alumni Weekend and Greek Night by handing Morgan State its first conference loss.
With the win, Norfolk State moved to within one game of the conference lead and avenged last month's loss to Morgan State.

North Carolina Central 62, Delaware State 50
DOVER, Del. -- Kimeira Burks came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points as North Carolina Central defeated Delaware State 62-50 on Saturday in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
The Eagles (12-13, 6-4 MEAC) have won two straight and four of their last six games.
Burks was 6-for-12 from the floor, while Kira Lowery and Morgan Callahan each added 12 points. Lowery also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, while Callahan nabbed seven off the glass.
