Maryland Eastern Shore Wins James Brown Invite
TOWSON, Md. -- Maryland Eastern Shore picked up the second event victory of the season at the James Brown Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
After increasing their lead in total pinfall, the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) No. 10 Hawks (53-30, 6-2 MEAC) picked up two Best-of-Seven Baker wins against a pair of Top 25 teams to win the event.
The Hawks came into Sunday's final with more than a 200-pin lead on second-place No. 6 North Carolina A&T State with one Traditional match to go against Morgan State. They picked up the win in that one 978-902 and maintained their lead in total pinfall — the first step to the crown.

North Carolina A&T State Finishes Second in James Brown Invite
TOWSON, Md. -- The sixth-ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA), the North Carolina A&T bowling team earned its highest finish of the spring semester on Sunday, when it finished second at the annual James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State University at AMF Lanes.
The Aggies lost to 10th-ranked Maryland Eastern Shore 4-2 in the best-of-seven Baker championship match to place second.
UMES' win ends the Aggies' reign over the JBI. The Aggies had won the previous two JBIs. A&T went 10-2 over the weekend to improve to 61-23 on the season. The Aggies totaled 13,219 pins over the weekend for an average of 194.4. Individually, sophomore Chloe Newberry came into Sunday with the tournament lead.

Morgan State Goes 4-1 on Day 2 of James Brown Invite
TOWSON, Md. -- The Morgan State Lady Bears are in 3rd place after Saturday's 5 traditional game matches. They have a total pinfall of 9,667 for their two days of competition for a 193.3 overall team average.
The Bears trailed North Carolina A&T by 80 pins for second place.

Monmouth Competes in Sunshine State Classic
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Monmouth University bowling team enjoyed a trip down to Orlando this past weekend for the Sunshine State Classic, where the Hawks went 6-6 overall and placed sixth out of 11 teams.
The three-day event co-hosted by Sacred Heart and Stephen F. Austin was Monmouth's first trip outside of the Northeast since competing in the Track Kat Klash in Houston during the first weekend of November earlier this season.
On Sunday for the tournament, the Hawks beat UAB again before falling to Florida A&M for a sixth-place finish.

UAB Finishes Seventh in Sunshine State Classic
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Two individual UAB bowlers placed in the Top 25 this past weekend at the Sunshine State Classic where the team finished seventh overall.
Savannah Schneider (20) and Jamie Krasnigor (24) placed in the Top 25 of individual standings. Schneider bowled a season high of three 200+ games with a highest of 228, and Krasnigor bowled two 200+ games.
On Friday, the Blazers beat Emmanuel College (930-833) in match four before finishing the day 1-4.
