NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 13, 2023 –North Carolina Central University junior Ivory Jones has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the league announced on Monday. Meanwhile, Howard freshman Maryn Jordan is the Rookie of the Week and Morgan State junior Emily Raubuch is the Pitcher of the Week.
Jones (OF, Jr., Douglassville, Ga.) batted .667 (4-for-6) with a .778 on-base percentage and 1.333 slugging percentage in NCCU's first two games of the season. She had a productive day at the plate, hitting a grand slam against Elon (four RBI) and adding a double, three RBI and two runs scored against N.C. A&T in the same afternoon.
Jordan (OF, Fr., San Diego, Calif.) hit .455 after going 5-for-11 in four games this past weekend. She drove in four runs, including three against Southern University and recorded her first career hit against No. 12/13 Tennessee.
Raubuch (P, Jr., Milan, Mich.) went 1-0 in two appearances during opening weekend. In the win over Elon, she pitched 5.2 scoreless and hitless innings and struck out four batters. In 8.0 innings of work, she recorded a 0.00 ERA and allowed two hits.
Other Top Performers
Lealani Ricks (Howard) went 3-for-4 for the weekend, including a 2-for-2 performance with two runs scored against Southern University.
Victoria Fletcher (Morgan State) was 3-for-8 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and a walk in three games at the Elon Classic.
Nia Lewis (Morgan State) hit .400 (4-for-10) with three stolen bases and a run scored in the Lady Bears’ three weekend games.
