DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University junior guard Justin Wright recorded his first career double-double in the Eagles' 83-63 victory over Morgan State inside McDougald-McLendon Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Wright hit nine of 12 field goals, two triples, and five shots from the charity stripe to finish the contest with a game-high 25 points. He also added a career-best 11 rebounds and claimed two steals.
NCCU graduate student Brendan Medley-Bacon had an impressive game, finishing with 17 points, eight boards, and six blocks.
NCCU (11-11, 4-4 MEAC) returns to action on Monday, Feb. 13 against Coppin State inside McDougald-McLendon Arena. The action begins at 7:30 p.m.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Latavian Lawrence and Rahsaan Edwards scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, to lead the South Carolina State men’s basketball team to its first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) win in the form of a 94-84 victory over Coppin State on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-20 overall and 1-7 in league play, while the Eagles drop to 6-19, 1-7.
Sam Sessoms led CSU with 24 points, while teammates Nendah Tarke (18 points) and Kam’Ron Blue (15 points) also scored in double figures.
South Carolina State hosts Morgan State at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Howard 86, Delaware State 85 (OT)
DOVER, Del. – Jelani Williams scored the game-winning layup in overtime and finished with a team-leading 19 points as the Howard men’s basketball team defeated Delaware State 86-85 in overtime on Saturday at Memorial Hall.
The Bison are now 15-10 overall and 7-1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The Hornets are 5-18 on the season and 3-5 in league play.
O’Koye Parker scored a game-high 24 points off the bench for the Hornets.
Howard hosts Maryland Eastern Shore at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Norfolk State continued to climb up the MEAC standings on Saturday, defeating Maryland Eastern Shore 76-73 at Hytche Athletic Center.
The Spartans (17-7, 6-2 MEAC) completed a regular season sweep of UMES (14-9, 6-2) with the win, delivering the Hawks both of their conference losses.
Joe Bryant Jr. led the way with 25 points, his third time scoring 20 or more points in the team's last four games. Dana Tate Jr. added an efficient 15 points and nine rebounds, shooting 5-of-6 (83.3 percent) from the floor.
Norfolk State will look for a fifth straight win on Monday, facing Delaware State for Military Appreciation Day. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
