NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State junior Jamarii Thomas has begun to receive national recognition for his stellar start to the 2023-24 season, earning Lou Henson National Player of the Week honors from CollegeInsider.com on Monday afternoon.
The acknowledgement comes after several elite performances from Thomas, the MEAC's leading scorer. Thomas averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game in two victories for the Spartans last week, shooting a perfect 11-of-11 at the free three throw line.
The UNC Wilmington transfer tallied 20 points and a career-high nine assists in a 96-62 win over William & Mary on Tuesday night, shooting 8-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. He followed that performance up with 17 points, five assists, and three steals in a win 63-60 win over VCU on Friday, Norfolk State's first triumph against the Rams since 1972.
Norfolk State returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 9, facing Illinois State on the road. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
